Four Men Go “Into the Gunfire”
The casting for the upcoming big budget Korean War movie, Into the Gunfire [포화속으로] has completed its lead casting. Joining Kwon Sang Woo and Big Bang’s T.O.P will be Cha Seung Won (City Hall) and Kim Seung Woo (IRIS).
Into the Gunfire is based on true events from the Korean War, where 71 South Korean student soldiers held off a few hundred North Korean soldiers at Pohang. Kwon Sang Woo and TOP will take on the student solder roles, while Cha Seung Won will be a North Korean commmanding officer, and Kim Seung Woo will take on the role of a South Korean commanding officer.
The film is directed by Lee Jae Han (A Moment to Remember). The cast will start shooting on the 25th.
I’m not sure how well the Kwon Sang Woo casting will work out, considering that he’s 33 and 9 years older than the more appropriately cast, TOP. I’m assuming (or hoping) that the story has made the needed adjustments to cast someone as old as Kwon Sang Woo for the role. I would have totally loved to have seen Kim Bum and Yoo Seung Ho as the soldier students. Their ages 20 and 16 respectively would have been perfect for the part.
But my main draw with the new casting will be Cha Seung Won. I’ve had a crush ever since I saw Kick the Moon. And watching City Hall made me remember why I liked him so much.
