Park Jin Hee is “The Woman Who Still Wants to Marry”

November 24, 2009

The 2004 MBC hit, The Woman Who Wants to Marry is getting a sequel:  The Woman Who Still Wants to Marry.  In the original story, the single ladies were 32 and the sequel is set 4 years later with the women at 36 years of age.  The sequel will star Park Jin Hee (War of Money), as Lee Shin Young, the lead character of the original drama.  She is a reporter, who is now happily dating a younger man, her 12 year junior.  Kim Bum (Dream, Boys Over Flowers) has been cast for this role.

Joining her is Eom Ji Won (Private Eye) in her 6 year comback to the small screen, playing the English translator Jung Da Jung.  Her last drama was 2004’s Magic.  And the third friend will be Wang Bit Na (Fly High), playing Kim Boo Ki, a restaurant consultant who breaks up with her long time boyfriend.

Lastly, Choi Chul Ho (Partner, Queen of Housewives) will also join the cast playing a man in love with a married woman 8 years his senior.  Directing the series will be Queen of Housewives’ Kim Min Shik, and will be written by Kim In Young, who penned the original series as well as Women in the Sun.  The series is expected to air in January.

I remember watching the original back in 2004 with my friends.  We had all pretty much just entered into our 30s and found the show to be funny, a bit over the top but relatable.  I’m not a big fan of Park Jin Hee, but I’m willing to give all female centric shows a gander.  (I really disliked War of Money.)  But I do love Kim Bum and I think he could be very good at playing an older woman’s boyfriend.
