Son Chang Min added to “Road Number One”

November 24, 2009

Son Chang Min has been added to the cast of the Korean War movie,Road Number One with So Ji Sub. (You can read more here.) He will be playing Oh Jong Ki, a man with animalistic instincts, who is able to distinguish him in battle, but is also violent and cruel in his personal life. This personality comes in conflict with So Ji Sub‘s Lee Jang Woo in the kdrama.

Son Chang Min was a popular actor in the early 90s and was the titular character in a little known, but well made sageuk, Shin Don.

I noticed that I missed the other director for the series in the previous post, Lee Jang Soo of Beautiful Days, Stairway to Heaven, Love Story in Harvard fame. The first director, whom I attached to the project, is Kim Jin Min (Shin Don, Time Between Dog and Wolf, Bittersweet Life.) I’m not sure how I missed the first director’s name, maybe I was trying not read it… I wonder how it’ll work out with 2 such different directors at the helm. Maybe it’ll turn out like Michael and Jim at co-managers in Dunder Mifflin… and Kim Jin Min will have to stop Lee Jang Soo from creating Tube City.

Ah, Son Chang-min. LOVE (present tense forever) him so very much in Shin Don.

Lee Jang-soo directing with Kim Jin-min? What a combination. The former directed my most-hated drama (STH), the latter my most-loved (SD). Anyway, please let Road Number 1 be good. Cain and Abel was so awful, poor Jisub.

A weird combo indeed. Lee Jang Soo is the sun-bae, so that’s always worrisome. But the topic seems more suited for Lee Jin Min. Who knows – maybe LJM will reform him. We can only hope.
STH: *Shudder* You know what’s funny? Park Shin Hye played Choi Ji Woo as a child… I’m almost tempted to go take a peek and see what she was like as a kid, well as a younger kid.

Lee Jang-Soo is only used by the press (and the producers themselves) as a “big name” to get more brownies from Japan, because JS Pictures has better standing than Logos Films over there. In reality, 99% will be filmed by Kim Jin-Min.

Not announced by the press yet, but Choi Min-Soo is in as well.

      Thanks! That’s good to know.
So Ji Sub, Son Chang Min, Kim Ha Neul AND Choi Min Soo?? This is turning into a pretty awesome cast and crew.
