Kim So Eun and Kang Ji Sub in new daily

January 9, 2010

Hmm… So I guess this is the route that Kim So Eun has settled on. She’s signed onto the daily drama, 바람 불어 좋은날 [Windy Days are Nice, my translation] that will follow the current KBS drama, Everybody Cha Cha Cha. I rarely ever watch dailies because I just can’t commit to a drama for that long, but they seem to do well with the housewives and have catapulted the careers of many actors. I’m just not sure why Kim So Eun needs catapulting, after Boys over Flowers and The Man Who Can’t Get Married, and nabbing the KBS New Actress Award.

I personally would have liked to see her take on a serious role, possibly a movie where she can show something else besides bubbly cute. But it seems like she’s doing another bubbly role, for 120 episodes. I don’t think it’s a bad career move per se. I’m sure there are benefits to working on a daily as an actor. Hopefully, it’ll be challenging for her and she can experience something that can help her budding career.

Kang Ji Sub was recently seen in another daily, Two Wives, mostly remembered for being shirtless in as many scenes as possible.

PD will have his work cut for him, with Kang being 188cm and 소은양… uh… 160 at best?

KBS’ Dailies or Kim Byung-Wook’s MBC Sitcoms are necessary evils on the way to stardom (particularly for girls), so as long as she doesn’t turn into Han Hyo-Joo 2.0, won’t do her any bad. Acting every day with veterans for 8 months is not such a bad deal, either. She can use the experience to improve technique. And you have 25 to 30% guaranteed down the line (unless it’s not makjang enough for them Palmolive crowd), so it’s ok.

Jin Yi-Han is in as well.
